About The Event

***This training will be virtually on Zoom.***

***First half of the day: "What Addiction Professionals Need to Know About HIV/AIDS in 2026" 9am-12pm***

Description:

HIV & AIDS are no longer the life-threatening illness they were 35 years ago, but there still is no cure.  Patients with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) are still at greater risk for HIV infection, less likely to be on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and more likely to be nonadherent with their HIV Treatment.  This training will review current treatment and prophylactic protocols. Issues of encouraging patients to know their HIV status and working with special at-risk populations will be explored as well as current HIV Prevention strategies.

Objectives:

  1.    List three things that place individuals with SUD at higher risk for HIV Infection
