Ethics: Why do we have to keep doing this?

Presenter: Alan Lyme, LISW, ICCS, MAC

Description: The substance abuse and behavioral health field are fraught with ethical dilemmas. Lines are often blurred between legal, ethical, and moral influences as we make in-the-moment decisions that can ripple out to create major unforeseen effect. This six-hour training will focus on some of the most common ethical digressions, reinforcing the importance of adhering to agreed-upon standards and the responsibility of maintaining competence. Individuals will be encouraged to bring their most challenging dilemmas to the conversation (de-identified) for group problem solving through several decision-making models.

Objectives:

1. Review the core concepts of ethics in the substance abuse and behavioral health fields.
